FMI impone modificaciones a la Ley de Aduanas

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Comptroller of Customs Raju Boddu said objections by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) forced government to raise fines and amend the Customs (Control and Management) Act 2013.

Boddu said IMF got involved because “one of the structural benchmarks under the Stand-By Arrangement was to implement legislative reform in Customs and Inland Revenue.

“We proposed only incremental increases, but then the IMF said this is going nowhere because these fines are very small,
