Parlamentarios del Commonwealth celebran conferencia regional en San Cristóbal y Nieves

La Conferencia Regional Anual del Caribe, las Américas y la Región Atlántica de la Asociación Parlamentaria del Commonwealth (CPA) sesiona desde este martes, encabezada por el presidente del congreso de San Cristóbal y Nieves, Anthony Perkins.

Ese encuentro se desarrolla bajo la consigna de ‘Fortalecer la democracia a través del uso del sistema parlamentario y de los medios de comunicación’ y por segunda vez en este siglo tiene por sede a esta capital.

Reúne a 13 presidentes de órganos legislativos y representantes de las Mujeres Parlamentarias del Caribe (CWP) y de jóvenes legisladores.

También están presentes como invitados, pero con derecho a voto, legisladores sancristobaleños de varios sectores, publicó el diario local The St kitts Nevis Observer.

Previo a la inauguración se desarrolló en esta capital la X Conferencia de Mujeres Parlamentarias de la Commonwealth, organizada por la CWP.

Mañana tendrá lugar el XXIII debate regional del Parlamento Juvenil del Commonwealth, al que asisten los 13 presidentes.

La CPA es una organización asociada de la Commonwealth que vincula a miembros de parlamentos y legislaturas nacionales, estatales, provinciales y territoriales.

Su misión es promover el avance de la democracia parlamentaria mejorando el conocimiento y la comprensión de la gobernabilidad democrática, en sus respectivos países.

Esta conferencia a la que asisten legisladores de Antigua y Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belice, Granada, Jamaica, Santa Lucía y San Vicente y las Granadinas, entre otros, concluirá el próximo viernes tras la elección del nuevo ejecutivo de la CPA.

Commonwealth parliamentarians meeting in St. Kitts and Nevis

Basseterre, June 20 (Prensa Latina) The Annual Regional Conference of the Caribbean, the Americas and the Atlantic Region of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) is taking place today, led by Saint Kitts and Nevis Congress President Anthony Perkins.
This meeting takes place under the slogan of ‘Strengthening democracy through the use of the parliamentary system and the media’ and for the second time in this century has its headquarters in this capital.
It brings together 13 presidents of legislative bodies and representatives of the Caribbean Women Parliamentarians (CWP) and young legislators.

Also present as guests, but with voting rights, San Cristobal legislators from various sectors, local newspaper The St Kitts Nevis Observer reported.

Previous to the inauguration was developed in this capital the X Conference of Commonwealth Parliamentary Women, organized by the CWP.

Tomorrow will take place the XXIII regional debate of the Commonwealth Youth Parliament, attended by the 13 presidents.
